Access

Vertigo has a reputation as a supplier of access solutions in situations where tasks would otherwise be considered either impossible or prohibitively expensive. From concept to installation, Vertigo continually delivers quality results to our very diverse range of clients.

Electrical

Rapid access and minimal load bearing make our methods ideally suited to electrical installation and maintenance work particularly on neon signage, and delicate electrical equipment, such as that used in fire and gas monitoring or the Melbourne Arts centre spire lighting project Vertigo’s capability includes short duration ‘ad hoc’ and emergency work on lighting circuits and fire and gas detection apparatus. Our methods allow unimpeded and continuous access to fire exits and escape routes at all times.For larger work scopes, maintenance teams provide all rigging and electrical resources needed to coordinate installation or refurbishment of complete lighting and power circuits, including cable trays and landings. Several major signage installation projects have been undertaken by Vertigo, with the product being delivered on time and on budget every time.

Electrical Inspection
Our electrical inspection capability provides clients with assessment and condition monitoring of hazardous area fittings, junction boxes and existing circuits prior to any programmed refurbishment work. Our fire and gas capability ranges from nozzle inspection and cleaning to complete system removal and replacement.

Mechanical

Rope access provides a convenient, safe and highly cost effective alternative to scaffolding for mechanical and construction projects in industrial environments both on and offshore. Vertigo undertake all forms of mechanical work, with personnel being drawn from a number of disciplines to provide clients with teams qualified to perform all aspects of each project, including:

• Rigging and lifting,
• Bolt torquing,
• Damage repairs,
• Welding (all disciplines),
• Flame cutting and steelwork erection, and
• Demolition.

Painting & Cleaning

Using rope access techniques, Vertigo’s tradesmen are able to carry out the cleaning and painting of high and difficult access structures safely, efficiently and cost effectively. Vertigo provides a comprehensive choice of services from high-pressure water blasting to complete re-coating of structures.Underdeck sections and vessel internals present a classic example of where the use of rope access to provide interim paint surveys and corrosion condition monitoring can assist with preventative local repairs, extending the period between major re-coating of assets. The cost saving with this approach is very significant, removing the ‘need’ to recourse to scaffolding. Our work record to date includes preparation and coating of shipping facilities and vessels, petrochemical facilities and installations, communications towers, remedial coating repairs, in addition to numerous works on commercial construction site using a range of modern coatings. The preparation methods employed vary from high-pressure water blasting through to dry grit blasting to SA 2 1/2. Coatings are then applied manually or by spray application.

Confined Spaces

A further aspect of rope access is the ability to reach places inside vessels, shafts, tanks and large bore pipe work that would be otherwise inaccessible. As a natural extension of our difficult access expertise, Vertigo technicians are qualified to plan, perform and supervise internal entry work. In all cases, from simple vessel entry to full dry diving, we examine the individual project requirements to develop specific procedures, prepare hazard analyses and, where appropriate, stage ‘dummy runs’. This attention to detail enables us to consistently perform high quality, technical tasks for clients in hostile environs, whilst remaining committed to the highest standards of health and safety.

Non-destructive testing

Certain characteristics of rope access such as rapid, lightweight deployment and the ability to effectively deal with difficult access issues make it ideally suited for inspection works on a vast number of differing types of structure. Vertigo has the capability to provide qualified non-destructive testing inspectors, drawn from all disciplines, to service all of a clients needs. Many of our inspectors have considerable experience in oil field inspection, having performed as part of teams on numerous long-term inspection contracts in the Asia-Pacific region. Vertigo also has an excellent working relationship with a number of inspection companies such as ETRS, with whom we are continually working in the Bass Strait.
